The Yak is a sturdy animal with excellent shock absorbers. In search of snow, it was the Yak that took me through rocky terrain & streams and varying slopes of the mountain terrain. However the ride was in total comfort – much better than riding in city roads. The mounting, dismounting & the ride was much smoother & better than a horse ride. One amazing  feature is that the Yak goes about its duty without any tension regardless of the rocks or other yaks or the human influx.  Even in slopes, it never gasped or struggled, maneuvering smoothly like a Volvo bus. A yak never trips despite the boulders on the route, & costs around 80 thousand rupees. Worth every  paise.

The sight of snow clad mountains glistening  in the morning sun is simply awesome. The rivers have more rocks than water. In that way south Indian rivers are lot safer with more sand.

The climate can be fine to chill; but enjoyable. Apple does not grow round the year, though we enjoy it round the year in India.

There is nothing much of a local cuisine here; The siddu is a local snack- looked like a idly stuffed with dry fruit pastes; not worth a try.

Simla has lost all its charm & does not have much to offer. Tour operators  & van drivers stick to drive to known spots mainly because of their commissions they get & the ghat roads. If you want to go spots off the beaten track, better to take a small vehicle, do your own discovery.
