Shakespeareans, forgive me for lifting the title of a great literary work for this blog.
This is appraisal time; 365 days of wait for this moment of victory, depression, anger, swearing, triumph etc……. ) The following is a flash that occurred in my mind.
Appraisal Committee : Well, Suresh, What are the new skills you have developed and how can we be sure you can shoulder more responsibilities in future?
Suresh: Well I have excelled at problem solving (not those physics, chemistry and maths ones). Many complex situations were resolved easily. I have become such a master in problem solving that I am not able to find quality problems or challenges in the company.
So I started creating one. I did not wait for others to do it. I slowly worked on this skill set. Today I am one among the world’s best problem creators (read as developers). I am probably the only one in the world to have both – problem solving and developing skills.
Appraisal Committee : Can you tell me more about this please?
Suresh: I can deliver problems in two modes; one big single stroke or in slow incremental packages. You will find the second interesting. Just when you thought enough is enough, I auto release the next packet of problems. My on time delivery record on problem developing beats the Domino’s 30 minute challenge.
I have a 100% customer satisfaction record with the owners and customers as far as problem creating (read as developing ) is concerned.
What’s more, I am highly cost effective; I create the most toughest problems for those owners who say that they can afford to pay only a small price.
I have even introduced a “Free 3 day no obligation trial offer” of my problem creating skills, to those owners who want to experience it. Do you want to try it out sir?
Appraisal Committee : We are amazed with your new skills. However, We are afraid, we do not require these skills now. In any case, if you wish to start your own venture in problem creation, management is ready to fund it and offer ours competeitors as your customers. By this way you can earn more than what you are getting. When are you putting your papers?
Suresh: But sir.. I have taken great efforts to develop this skill and you don’t want me… I am disappointed.
The End of 365 days of wait.
