Uniquely Desi

A case study in sales strategy.

A small - family run, single store - traditional but innovative  Gujarati sweet shop in Jamnagar, but popular world over. Your order is delivered wherever you are in the world.

As you push the glass doors and enter the air conditioned store, you are received by a warm, crisp, wide grinned, whole hearted welcome by the owner & / or his wife.

By the time you come out of the sudden attention a waiter offers you a 100ml Bisleri water bottle & a tissue. While you are glancing at the wares, you are given a small plate of sweet & ask you to try it. In you pop it & a second later they ask you if you like the X flavour. You nod - yes. A precise 10  second later, they ask if you are savouring the Y flavour in the same sweet. You nod  a double yes. You are then given another sweet & water bottle. The process continues untiringly.

All are complimentary with no obligation; but every footfall in the shop makes a minimum purchase of R's.500.  A 100% strike rate!!!!

The owner takes pride in explaining the manufacturing process, their mastery over the science of flavours, humidity controlled manufacturing facility, automation, fixed batch size, natural ingredients, long shelf life of their produce etc..

The visually pleasing & meticulous packing bring out the child in you. The prices are quite steep - bug no regrets.

My favorite: Sweet Rolls in - hold your breath- 24 innovative flavours!!!

This exactly is the way to sell a premium product or service: allow to customer to experience.

Have a glimpse of their flavours, packing & prices on the web & order some.
